The 2025 Monarch Nucleic Acid Purification Scholarship recognizes individuals who exemplify the core tenets of Monarch – delivering research excellence, caring for our planet, and supporting your community.
What do Awardees Receive?
There will be 3 awardees, each receiving a scholarship of $2,025 to support their endeavors. Awardees will also have the option to donate the scholarship to a charity in lieu of accepting the award. Terms and Conditions apply.
Additionally, awardees and their work will be widely recognized and celebrated in NEB communications and featured on neb.com.

How To Enter
Fill out the online submission form here and answer the following by uploading your submission in a Word or PDF file format:
1. Describe how your research project utilizes nucleic acid purification (up to 200 words).
2. Tell us (in up to 2,000 words) how your research project involving nucleic acid purification exemplifies the core tenets of Monarch kits:
- Performance – How is your project important to you and others? Why did you take the project on? What drives you to succeed in this endeavor?
- Sustainability – How is your project helping to care for the planet?
- Value – How is your project supporting your community and/or adding value for others?

Scholarship FAQs
Q1: Who is eligible to participate?
Any individual, located in the USA, over the age of 18, who is doing great research work involving nucleic acid purification can enter to win the prize. Further details on eligibility for this contest can be found in the Terms and Conditions.
Q2: How will the winners be chosen?
A panel of NEB staff members will select the winners. Winners will be judged on how well their work demonstrates the Monarch core tenants of performance, sustainability, and value.
Q3: Does the project need to use Monarch nucleic acid purification kits from NEB?
No. Monarch kits from NEB are not required, but the project needs to include the use of nucleic acid purification.
Q4: Can a group or team submit an entry?
No. Only an individual can submit an entry. If an individual’s work is conducted as part of a group effort, please select one person from the group to represent the work.
Q5: What will winners receive?
There will be up to three (3) total scholarships of $2,025 USD each awarded to further support a Winner’s Nucleic Acid Purification Project. If a Winner cannot or declines to accept the Scholarship Prize, NEB will donate $2,025 USD to a mutually agreed upon charity in lieu of providing the Winner a Scholarship Prize.
Q6: Does an individual need to involve the individual’s institution or employer in the Award nomination/entry process?
By submitting an entry to the Scholarship Contest, the individual represents that he or she is authorized to do so by his or her institution/ employer. Additionally, if “non-original” work, text or media of any kind is used, the individual must certify permission has been granted by the authors, creators or publishers of that work and content. The individual must further certify that his or her work and content, and its submission, is in compliance with all applicable policies and guidelines of the individual’s institution/employer.
